On the day of the first rising of Matariki on the 29th of June 2024, the sculpture was blessed in a whakanoa ceremony conducted by Hone Bassett, Tohunga of Ngāti Tara hapū of Ngāti Kahu. In this ceremony it was named Te Rā, in celebration of the rising and setting of the sun.
